The Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life is committed to eliminating hazing by supporting ongoing hazing prevention education efforts.
Prospective Member Orientation
During Prospective Member Orientation, all prospective members will learn that hazing has no place in the IU sorority and fraternity community. During Prospective Member Orientation, all prospective members will learn that hazing has no place in the IU sorority and fraternity community. During this portion of Prospective Member Orientation, they will review the hazing policy, examples of hazing, signs of hazing, behavior that is expected of organization members, and where to report if you or a friend have experienced hazing.
Sororities and fraternities have the opportunity to request hazing prevention education programs utilizing our Programming Request Form. These educational programs can be tailored to the organization’s goals and needs, including but not limited to meet their Health & Wellness programming requirements, conduct sanctions, and required programming from their inter/national organization.
As we continue to advance our prevention efforts, you can expect to see:
- New and continued partnerships for hazing prevention with other campus partners.
- Train-the-trainer opportunities
- Additional training for advisors
- Community wide education opportunities
- Social-norming campaigns, etc.
