Every student deserves the chance to be successful, and not all lessons happen in the classroom.

We can’t fix or solve every problem, but we can be your partner in figuring it out. Let us know what you need—big or small—and feel comfortable coming to our offices for help.

Personal safety

Submit a Care Referral

Get help for yourself or someone else. Use this form if you don't know who to contact.

Report hazing

File a report if you believe that you or someone you know is being treated unfairly or harmed.

Report harassment or discrimination

File a report if you experience or witness harassment or discrimination.

Academic support

Get your absence excused

If you are hospitalized or have a family emergency, the Dean of Students Office can write an absence notification memo, send it to your instructors, and support you during your time of crisis.

Change or appeal a grade

If there are extreme circumstances that prevent you from completing a course, you can request that your grade be changed to a W. If you feel that you’ve been graded unfairly in a course, you have the option to appeal that grade.

Withdraw from all courses

Learn how to end your enrollment at Indiana University. We strongly encourage you to speak with a Student Advocate before you begin the withdrawal process.

Disability services

Get academic accommodations

Arrange for extended time on exams, enlarged-print tests, permission to record lectures, and other accommodations to make learning more accessible.

Request an accessible van

If you need help getting around campus due to permanent or temporary mobility limitations, you can request to be added to the accessible van schedule.

Bring your service animal to campus

If you are a student with a diagnosed disability and you need to use a service animal on campus, or if you want to have an emotional support animal in student housing, you must register for services through the Office of Disability Services.

Get legal advice

Schedule an appointment with Student Legal Services for free legal advice or representation in court.

Settle a landlord issue

Get help with security deposit refunds and disputes, evictions, subleases, mold, and other off-campus housing drama.

Find an attorney

Student Legal Services attorneys can represent you in civil cases and connect you with local attorneys for more serious charges.
