Apply for the Family Support Grant

Financial support for IU’s military families

The Veterans Family Support Grant provides $2,000 per academic year (fall and spring semesters) to a veteran or service member who is supporting a child or children under 18 while enrolled full time at Indiana University Bloomington. (The grant amount is the same regardless of the number of children under 18.) The funds are unrestricted and may be used for any educational purpose.

Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. If funding remains available at the beginning of the spring semester, qualified new students or students who have added a child to their family during the fall semester may apply for spring-only grants. If additional funds remain, qualified students who are enrolled in the summer semester or in a third quarter for Kelley Direct and are at least half time for their program could be eligible for an additional $500 award.

Eligibility

The child(ren) supported by the student may be biological or adopted, or (a) stepchild(ren). At least one dependent child must be under 18 as of the first day of the fall semester. It is not required that the child(ren) live with the student.

If both a child’s parents are veterans or service members enrolled full time at IU Bloomington, each is eligible for a separate grant.

The student does not have to use VA education benefits to be eligible for the grant.
