Apply for Emergency Funding

Get help with unexpected expenses

Friday, May 1, 2020 is the deadline for Spring 2020 emergency assistance requests. The SAO will start considering Summer emergency financial assistance requests starting July 2020.  We cannot consider requests early than that date due to the end of the school year file reviews.

If you’re facing unexpected financial difficulties, you may be able to get emergency funding from the Student Advocates Office for expenses such as:

  • An unusually high utility bill
  • Vehicle repair
  • Medical or dental expenses
  • Unexpected school supplies
  • Textbooks (if financial aid is delayed)
  • A month’s rent or utilities (if a roommate moves out without notice)
  • Transportation costs for a trip home due to an emergency
  • Expenses related to a job interview or a new job

Application process

  1. Complete the emergency funding request form below.
  2. Within 48 hours of submitting the form, you must meet with a MoneySmarts team member to discuss the reason for your funding request and your monthly budget. You will not be considered for emergency funding until you meet with MoneySmarts.
