IU Outdoor Adventures has a wide range of classes, trainings, clinics, and workshops to teach you the skills needed to have a fun and safe outdoor experience. Designed for beginner outdoor enthusiasts, our 1, 2, & 3-credit classes, trainings, and workshops range in time, duration, activity, and skill set.

SPH-W classes

Earn class credit while learning a new outdoor activity in our SPH-W classes. Offered by the Department of Health and Wellness Design in the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, our courses are designed to introduce you to the basics of many popular outdoor recreation activities. Classes include mountain biking, coastal kayaking, rock climbing, backpacking, and many more.

You can view Outdoor Adventures-managed SPH-W classes offered during the current and upcoming academic terms at Student Central or visit the fall 2021 course browser to find SPH-W courses. You can register for SPH-W courses using the Student Center in One.IU during your regular registration appointment.

Trainings and workshops

For a more in-depth skill building session, IU Outdoor Adventures offers a wide range of trainings, workshops, and clinics to develop the technical skills in various outdoor activities. These opportunities are designed more on particular technical skills and range in length, duration, and required skill set. Our programs are open to IU and the community.
