Dr. Harold “Pete” Goldsmith has been a higher education administrator for over thirty-five years and has worked in a variety of institutional settings, including St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Western Illinois University, Old Dominion University, Michigan State University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Kent State University.  He has held a variety of positions in student affairs and general administration at these institutions.

As Dean of Students at IU, he is responsible for the Division of Student Affairs which provides student support services, removes barriers for students, and enriches students’ educational experiences.

Dr. Goldsmith has given over 100 presentations at state, regional, national, and international conferences.  He has presented programs and workshops on strategic planning and management, the impact of technology on higher education and student affairs, and continuous quality improvement.

In 2010, he received IU’s Department of Student Affairs and Higher Education Shafer Award for distinguished service, scholarship, and administrative leadership.
