- Dean of Students
Indiana Memorial Union, M088
I am honored to be the vice provost for student affairs and dean of students at Indiana University. I completed my undergraduate degree at DePauw, my masters in the outstanding Higher Education and Student Affairs program right here at Indiana University, and my Juris Doctor at Notre Dame. I am thrilled to have stepped into this position in June after 11 years in the Office of General Counsel, and I feel privileged and humbled to serve students and this historically outstanding division of committed and talented professionals.
Student engagement, retention, and success hold a special place in my professional philosophy. I believe a college union is the living room to the student experience and should be welcoming and busy with student activity. I think that being at our best professionally, especially when our students are not at their best, is critically important to their success. My own experience as an undergraduate student at DePauw University shaped some of these values, including four years of serving on the Union Board, and serving on the executive board in my fraternity.
Professionally, I began working closely with students as the assistant director of the student center and of student activities at Quinnipiac College and served as the director of student activities and Greek life at Centre College where I also advised student government and a wide variety of other student organizations. When I returned to IU, I had the privilege of being the primary attorney for the Division of Student Affairs, which gave me the opportunity to be engaged in many different kinds of student issues. Now, I am eager to continue IU’s legacy of outstanding service to students and student engagement as vice provost.
