We’re committed to preparing students to be productive citizens and leaders. And we’re always trying to improve our support services and opportunities for co-curricular engagement.

That’s where assessment comes in. We use various student affairs assessment and program evaluation techniques to learn more about the student experiences the division provides. Our departments systematically collect and analyze data to make informed decisions about their services and practices and to better support student growth.

The division’s 2010 strategic plan established the Division of Student Affairs Assessment Initiative. A steering committee created a vision, a mission, core values, and desired outcomes. The committee also developed a Headcount Survey to collect information about how many students the division supports and in what ways.

Later the committee began addressing how the departments—individually and collectively—create conditions for optimal student success and learning, and linking this to the General Education Common Ground requirements and shared student learning objectives.

The division partners with Campus Labs and the Education Advisory Board (EAB) in the development, implementation, and analysis of assessment and evaluation efforts.
